MusicMile
My thoughts on this project are these... Amazing, Awesome!! My students were so enthusiastic about this. It was great fun, they worked so well together a real team effort. I played music from as many musicians as were on the canvas. This was the first time some of them ever heard of Louie Armstrong or Billie Holiday, each week was a new musical adventure and they actually liked the music!! They were thrilled to be interviewed and featured on the local news station here. It was television, sorry no clipping. What I realized after I took some pictures and we viewed them was the diverse group of students I have. We painted this canvas to help promote global understanding, well we have that right here in my class room. Chinese, Malaysian, Russian,Italian, Korean. God, I love New York ! Well we hope you like our work and yes can you send those certificates you mentioned. Thanks again for this experience and I hope to work with you again soon. Wynter 20.1.2005

is dedicated to the inspirational and talented famous musical artist, Stevie Wonder who has worked to prove that music is also a language that crosses all cultures.  People everywhere around the world have begun to paint music murals with the consciousness that dwindling educational budgets have impacted loss of music and visual art programs in schools.  Thus was born a focus to “Keep Music In Schools”.

Each country has a treasure trove of native and folk music performers and musicians that are idolized and immortalized by fans that will come together with music in their hearts to  render these onto canvas. Be sure to see the special dedication mural by Cady Macasa in honor of Stevie and to our beloved and dear friend Patty Roberts who so wanted this mural mile to happen. In 2003 we were honored to have Karena Mendoza, an accomplished and talented composer from South Africa to help us bring sound bytes as overall Music Director to the mural mile.
