Indigenous People'sMile

This mile was inspired by the splendor of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s Annual Pow Wow the “Schemitzun”, or the Celebration of the Green Corn Dance. WE acknowledge and thank the tribe, especially the beautiful children, for understanding and supporting our efforts.

The goal of this mile is to help Indigenous People and Communities worldwide to develop a “living monument” to each bountiful rich cultural heritage and to portray and preserve their inextricable environmental ties with nature. We dedicate this mile to the International Indigenous Youth Peace Summit which will be organized and co -sponsored by, the Akwesasne Mohawk Tribes and The Art Miles Mural Project. It is our goals to establish a Culture of Peace Village and to have their territories designated as the Indigenous Peace Capital of the World for the next 100 years; ensuring a real legacy and follow up of these efforts comes to fruition.

The Mohawk Akwesasne tribal members were among those that built the World Trade Center twin towers, and it is with the spirit of The Great Peacemaker who walked among them before and as in their prophecies and legends, will walk again during this UNESCO Decade of the Culture of Peace. We are proud to work together with them, Tribal Reality and other world groups in making preparations to bring 5,000 YOUTH together in Canada in a forum tol roadmap ideas for future peace actions affecting aboriginal peoples world wide.
